Causativization in Hmar

چکیده
The present paper is an attempt to describe and analyse the structure of causatives in Hmar, a Kuki-Chin subgroup Tibeto-Burman language family, spoken by around 98,550 speakers as per Census India, 2011. This discusses two types language: Morphological Lexical. Hmar has morphological causative forms, viz prefix /sùk-/ suffix /-tìr/, that are productively employed derivation structures. Lexical causatives, on other hand, uncommon unproductive. found have handful forms can be considered fragments historical morphology. Causativization in Hupa
In this paper I analyze the morphosyntactic alternations involving the causative morpheme ̃in Hupa, an Athapaskan language. The distribution of this morpheme is of interest because it is intermediate between that of what might be called a ‘lexical’ causative, and that of a syntactic causative which takes a clausal complement. I will argue that a uniform treatment may be given for ̃in structural t...
متن کاملNon-linguistic Conditions for Causativization as a Linguistic Attractor
An attractor, in complex systems theory, is any state that is more easily or more often entered or acquired than departed or lost; attractor states therefore accumulate more members than non-attractors, other things being equal. In the context of language evolution, linguistic attractors include sounds, forms, and grammatical structures that are prone to be selected when sociolinguistics and la...
متن کاملINVESTIGATING THE ROLE OF CAUSATIVIZATION IN OVERPASSIVIZATION OF UN-ACCUSATIVE VERBS BY IRANIAN ENGLISH MAJORS
The current study aims at exploring the role of causativization as one of the causes stated in the literature for overpassivization of English unaccusatives in an Iranian context. The study was conducted using three data collection procedures, an Oxford Placement Test, a Grammaticality Judgment Task, and a Production Task. The results revealed that causativization errors with non-alternating una...
متن کاملCausation and External Arguments
In the realm of causativization, the traditional tension between explaining crosslinguistic variation while maintaining that a phenomenon has a common universal source can be stated specifically as follows: how can we explain the fact that if a certain type of verb causativizes in both languages A and B, the derived predicate usually has the same syntactic and semantic properties, while also ac...
متن کاملThe human intestinal microbiota of constipated-predominant irritable bowel syndrome patients exhibits anti-inflammatory properties
The intestinal microbiota of patients with constipated-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (C-IBS) displays chronic dysbiosis. Our aim was to determine whether this microbial imbalance instigates perturbation of the host intestinal mucosal immune response, using a model of human microbiota-associated rats (HMAR) and dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced experimental colitis. The analysis of the...
